A) The Park of Vulci 2 days/1 night


TheNaturalistic Archeological Park of Vulci is spread over a scarcely inhabited section of the Tuscan-Lazio Maremma. It is crossed by the Fiora river that has excavated the volcanic rock into a deep canyon and then formed Pellicone lake. Visitors will see close up the sites of ancient Etruscan and Roman cult and private homes. They will visit the monumental burial places in the Ponte Rotto necropolis such as the Francois Tomb and the Tomb of the Inscriptions as well as the Castello della Badia (13th century) where the National Archeological Museum is located.

Day 1
Learning itinerary to the Naturalistic Archeological Park of Vulci. Visit to the Etruscan-Roman city, the monumental tombs and the National Museum in the Castello della Badia. Also a visit to the Archeological Site active in the area. The excavation methods will be shown as well as techniques of graphic documentation, the study of the finds and their conservation and restoration.

Day 2
Visit to the Laboratory of analysis, Diagonostic and Restoration located in the historic center of Montalto di Castro. Introductory lessons concerning the conservation of beni cultural, through the direct illustration of the modern consdrvation with particular reference to the methods adopted by experts of t he lab: chimical analysis, microsopic, monitoraggio for the control of temperature and humidity, up to the setting up of a section and the restoration of finds, through the help of equipment and advanced technology that garantees the quality of the results.

The City of Tufo Park 3 days/2 nights

The Natural Archeological Park "City of Tufo" is considerated an open air museum and takes in the town of Sovana, the ancient centers of Sorano and Vitozza in the uncontaminated and varied Maremma, a territory of volcanic formation north of the Lake of Bolsena. Return to true nature of long ago in the landscape that inspired Virgil's "Bucolics."


Day 1-Sovana

Visit to the ancient medieval village with the Rocca Aldobrandessca (13th century), the Clock Tower, Palazzo Bourbon del Monte, the Archives. Among the monuments not to be missed is the home of Pope St. Gregory VII Ildebrando da Sovana, and the land shells museum (malacologia terrestre ) inside, the only one in Europe. Also the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul one of the most important medieval buildings of Tuscany


Day 2-The City of Tufo Park

Morning and afternoon: visit to the City of Tufo Park, considered an extraordinary example of open air museum, covering over 70 hectares in a territory of great landscape and archeological value. The civilizations such as Villanovian have lived here since the Bronze Age and the quantity and quality of traces they left range from Etruscan necropoli to medieval and Renaissance monuments.


Day 3-Vitozza and Sorano

Guided visit to the rock cliff settlements dating from the year 1000. The area is characterized by the presence of over 100 grottos excavated in the tufo used as homes and surrounded by remains such as the Chiesaccia, the castle and important Colombari. A visit to Sorano , an interesting medieval town with the Orsini fortress, masterpiece of military architecture, and the museum of the Castello.

A) Crafts and Daily Life in the Renaissance 3 days/2 nights

Day 1 -The Castello di Santa Severa

Guided visit to the medieval castle with its Saracen tower, the Baptistry, 15th century church and the artisans' workshops set up in the village.


Day 2- Allumiere and the Renaissance quarries
A walk in the beech woods to discover the Renaissance alum quarries. A visit to the Civic Museum of Allumiere and Laboratory to learn about the use and work of alum in ancient times.

Day 3- Odescalchi Castle at Bracciano
A visit to the ancient manor, among the most important feudal homes of Europe. A walk along the lakeside will follow our visit.
